About My Site -

Welcome All to my Kingdom of Innisfree Designs!  I am your very servant, Cecelia Sperling (mundane name Karen Conrad), and do hope that your visit here is enjoyable, your fancy be tickled, and perchance you to find some beauteous jeweled item to add to your collection...

Now, there is little I loathe more than boring, minimalist websites myself; if you are here, you likely concur.  I believe that it befits a site such as mine that you leave here with a notion of shared interests and  style- I make what I would like to wear myself and that my customer has shown appreciation for.  That goes also for my website- why not be inviting and give a person a reason to loiter for a while?  There's a real un-cubicled fellow human behind all this- So go ahead, sit on the sofa, make yourself comfy, look about, click on something- who knows where it may lead?  You may find a smallish but choice collection of Old Master pics, a little Renaissance Art & Culture (can't help myself, double-minored in History!), some Period music, the occasional poem or two (maybe something I've written myself), and I'm constantly adding new & worthy items and links as well.  Enjoy!

About My Goodes -

My designs are Mine Own; I don't copy from bead magazines.  I do make a concerted effort to replicate what I see in the Old Masters, usually portraiture from the Early Renaissance on.  However I am no Purist when it comes to working in various Historical Periods (the SCA generally considers the Renaissance period to end at 1600 CE - http://www.sca.org/) and I enjoy coming up with pieces that push in either direction; Gothic on the earlier side or Restoration pearl chokers, say, on the other end.  Thank you, but for now I am resisting Pirate Chic!

I proudly work in generally better quality materials.  This means whenever possible thicker gold plating when plate is used, gold-fill as affordable, some sterling silver.  I also use GP (gold plate) or SP (silver plate) pewter elements as well; to achieve the "right" period look for an item sometimes quality pewter cannot be beat.  I will always indicate if the pewter used in an item has lead or is lead-free.

I am virtually allergic to clunky, gobby acrylic "gems"; there are very nice natural (leaded glass or crystal) substitutes out there.  Acyrlic "jewels" are what I adorned my old Barbie doll with- my ladies shall not go out into the Known Worlde in over-priced gobby acrylic monstrosities!  Egads!  I adore the look of real Old World gemstones- onyx, agate, jasper, lapis, serpentine- and I most often work with these.  For pearl items I use freshwater pearls (FWP) or better quality glass-based (GB) "pearls"in order to keep things affordable.  I string everything on steel or brass cable, doubling through if the weight of the material indicates that would be wise.  I had a gem strand break on me on the subway once (not one of "my" items!)- I will do what I can to prevent that from happening to you!

How To Order-

You can safely order your lovely item from me on-line using a credit card or bank check card (logo) which is done through the Linkpoint Merchant processing system, which is a third-party system.  This is really easy & works like a charm and I've had no complaints or problems with it at all.  When you have selected an item, click on it and it should bring you to the"store" portion of the site, then check out at the Shopping Cart.

If ordering via credit card through the store, an e-mail will be sent to me of your order and a confirmation e-mail will be automatically sent to you.  I'll send you your item(s) super-pronto (I use Fedex Ground).

Perhaps you would rather place an order by fax?  That number is 864-963-1131.  You can let me know to expect your payment and I'll have your item ready to send when payment arrives.  If you would rather not use an on-line credit card processing system I do also accept money orders.  This can be done very easily using that Shopping Cart- just enter all the info as requested, print it up (one copy for me and one for you), and then delete the transaction instead of entering it.  Mail it to me at:

And your item will soon be on its way!
